What was life like before bariatric surgery?
My weight stopped me from living my best life. Asthma and obesity stopped me from enjoying time with my family. Being inactive limited my activities, and I couldn’t walk due to difficulty in breathing.

If you put off the decision to come in for a long time, why was that? What kept you from booking a consultation?

Six years. Paying cash and being afraid of consequences from the surgery delayed my decision. Then I had emergency surgery in 2017 to save my life from hernia issues. I wanted to have the surgery afterward but was still afraid. 2 hospitalizations in 2020 for respiratory distress moved my timeline and desire to get better.

What was it like to work with the team, from the start of your journey to today?

Very encouraging and supportive. Shout out to Candy Peterson for her encouragement.

What is your life like now? What’s the #1 thing you love being able to do now?

Walking, being active, talking, and walking at the same time. Enjoying life. I can’t wait to see what a year from now looks like.
