What Happens Next?

They Were Asking the Same Questions You Are

Real patients from right here in Florida. Every one of them wondered if they could afford it, if surgery was really for them, and if the weight would stay off. Here’s what happened after they took the assessment.

Duodenal Switch · 150 lbs lost · Off all 11 medications

“I always thought surgery was cheating, or for people without willpower. At 375 lbs, I was on 11 daily prescriptions for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and Afib.

After losing 150 lbs, I’m not on a single one. All of my medical issues have resolved. I went from a 4X shirt to a Large. I wish I’d understood sooner that this was never about willpower.”

Finally pain-free

“I put surgery off for three years because my insurance wouldn’t help, and I joked it cost almost as much as my car. Then my mom asked me, ‘Don’t you think you’re more valuable than your car?’

That changed everything. The staff walked beside me every step, from the first consult to billing. I feel like a whole new person because I don’t hurt all the time.”

Sleep apnea gone · Coaching his son’s football team

“I’d lost weight plenty of times before. I always put it back on. That’s why I waited years.

Now my joint pain is gone, I sleep better than I have in decades, and I coached my son’s football team this year, which would’ve been impossible before. I’m living life now, not just existing.”

102 lbs lost in 7 months

“Before surgery I had zero self-confidence, and walking down the street made my back lock up. The team made me feel validated and answered every question with compassion.

Seven months later I’m down 102 pounds. I can walk, dance, run, and slide down the slide with my kids. This was the best decision I ever made for myself.”

Questions We Hear Every Day

Will my insurance cover weight loss surgery?

Many insurance plans do, and some employers offer coverage you may not even know about. The fastest way to find out is our free insurance check. We’ll verify your benefits for you at no cost, so you know exactly where you stand before making any decisions.

What if I’m paying out of pocket?

Our self-pay program is $9,800. Financing options are available, and many patients are surprised at how manageable the monthly payments can be. When you take the assessment, just select “Self-Pay / Financing” and we’ll walk you through every option on your call.

How do I know if I qualify?

That’s exactly what the 60-second assessment is for. Generally, candidates have struggled to maintain a healthy weight through diet and exercise alone, often alongside conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, acid reflux, or joint pain. Fill out the assessment, and we’ll tell you honestly if you’re a candidate. If surgery isn’t the right fit, we also offer a medical weight loss program.

Will I actually keep the weight off?

This is the question that matters most, and it’s the reason many of our patients chose surgery after years of losing and regaining weight with diets. Bariatric surgery changes the physiology that made keeping weight off so difficult in the first place. It’s a tool, and paired with the ongoing support of our team, it’s the most effective long-term option available for significant weight loss. You saw Allen’s story above. He’d lost weight many times before and always gained it back. Surgery is what finally made it stick.

Is weight loss surgery safe?

Today’s procedures are performed laparoscopically, meaning small incisions, shorter recovery, and a strong safety record. Most patients go home within a day or two and are back to normal activities within a few weeks. Every surgery is performed by our board-certified surgeons, and you’ll be guided through preparation and recovery by a team that has walked thousands of patients through this exact journey.

Which procedure is right for me: sleeve, bypass, or duodenal switch?

You don’t need to know yet. Most people don’t when they first reach out. Each procedure has different strengths depending on your health history, your goals, and your starting point. That conversation happens with Dr. Peterson at your consultation, where you’ll get a clear recommendation based on your specific situation

What happens after I fill out the assessment?

A member of our team will call you within one business day to go over your results, answer your questions, and if you’d like, get your free insurance check started. No pressure, no obligation. It’s simply a conversation about your options. From there, you decide if and when you’re ready for a consultation.

Do I have to live near your offices?

We have locations in Palm Coast, Lake Mary, and Port Orange, and we offer telehealth visits for many appointments, so patients come to us from all over the country. Your first conversation happens by phone either way.
